TREES by Alfred Joyce Kilmer

TREE
S

I think that I shall never see
A poem lov
ely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet eart
h’s flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leaf
y arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robin
s in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately l
ives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

This is one of my favorite poems
written by American journalist, poet,
literary critic, lecturer, and editor,
Alfred Joyce Kilmer.

You have such a long memory. I know this is one of your fav poems. The other one is the poem of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, "... when I am dead my dearest, sing no sad song for me...". O di ba, everytime you see green trees, all of a sudden ga-tula ka na agad. You were so outstanding in Literature in high school hmmmppp!

When I am Dead My Dearest was written by Christina Georgina Rossetti. I'll post it next time. I always dream about writing my own poems. I tried several times pero naba-block ako. May be, poem writing is not for me. What do you think!

Elizabeth Barrett Browning's famous poem is, How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways.

O ano lalaban ka pa?

Sori, alam mo naman pasang-awa ako sa Literature! If I may recall, you were always reciting "The Raven," and you even told me that it was adapted into music.

Pasang-awa, talagang bagsak ka!

The Raven was written by Edgar Allan Poe.... "... one upon a midnight dreary... while I ponder weak and weary... over many of quaint and curious... volume of forgotten love... while I nodded nearly napping...suddenly there came a tapping...!!! Space is not enough, dear friend.

Well, let me see. If my memory serves me right, the poem is sung to the tune of Come Back to Sorrento.

Errata:

third line should read --

"... once upon a midnight dreary... while I pondered (past tense)...

fourth line should read --

".... over many a quaint and curious .... forgotten lore (hindi love)..."

Sorry, ang bilis kasing magtype eh!

BTW, it is a narrative poem!

Ang bobo ko talaga! Pero promise to include, on a regular basis, beautiful poems. Exciting pala if a poem is presented differently like what you did with The Trees. Sa Literature book natin, ngeekkk, boringggggggg!!!

OK! The next featured poem is entitled, "How Do I Love Thee."

This time, they were face to face,their bodies merged with his hands cupping her supple ass on bare ass flesh,pulling their crotches tight. But she did have an earthy sex appealto her.
