Eating not only keeps us alive and healthy, but it is an important part of our social and emotional lives as well. Much of the way we feel about food, and the effect it has on us, is learned behavior. As we grow up, we are conditioned to respond to food in certain ways.

We all have different tastes in food, of course. Sometimes, we even say we have a favorite food, which may be different from your brother's or from the person's next door. But, generally, your "favorite" will come from the range of foods offered to you by your family. Family preferences are, in turn, largely determined by cultural influences. Another factor affecting food preference is appearance. Though seemingly unrelated to taste, the appearance of a food can sometimes have a strong effect on our opinions of it. These feelings illustrate the effects of previously conditioned learning.

On a lighter note, I am hosting a small household gathering Thursday evening. Why in the world did I say, "yes". Now I am having a hard time figuring out which recipes to prepare. May be, I'll go for quick, simple, but delicious and healthy dinner recipes.
